A Waterfall Adventure Session to Remember

Every year there are a few sessions that stay with me long after I’ve packed up my gear, and this one is definitely going on that list. Picture this: peak foliage, a mile-long hike through the gorgeous autumn colors, and the sound of waterfalls. Add in a client who was completely up for the adventure and two well-behaved dogs and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a dream session.

What made this day so memorable wasn’t just the scenery (though hiking from waterfall to waterfall felt like stepping into a postcard). It was the teamwork. I showed up with about 40 pounds of camera gear on my back, and without hesitation, my client offered to help carry some of it for part of the hike. I can’t tell you how much I appreciated that small gesture—it meant we could get to each location more easily, saving energy for the creative part of the day.

The dogs were absolute stars. Navigating trails, posing on rocks, staying patient while we set up shots. 

Sessions like this remind me that the most meaningful images often come from shared effort and a willingness to go a little off the beaten path. When clients are ready to explore, embrace the elements, and trust me with the journey, we’re able to create something truly unforgettable.

These images were worth every step of the hike and in the parking lot as we were packing up, we had a wonderful sunset giving us an opportunity to capture a silhouette photo.
